8th Grade pen and ink

My 8th grade students chose their own subjects and created wonderful pen and ink  drawings.

Pen and Ink

Pen and ink has been used for hundreds of years. Van Gogh did some of my favorite pen and ink drawings. Look at the way he used line to create a feeling of texture and movement!

7th grade- Tissue paper collage

Students used a picture of a flower, enlarged and cropped it and made a collage with tissue paper. The tissue overlapped in areas and I think the effect was beautiful. The students then used oil piant markers to draw significant lines in their work.

Georgia O'Keefe

The paintings of American artist Georgia O'Keefe are known throughout the art world. She was a woman artist when being an artist was entering  a man's world. O'Keefe painted from nature and her paintings became abstracted by their  scale and the way they were cropped in the space.

Optical Illusion Art 8th grade

Optical Illusion art was done by artists who wanted to challenge the  way  a viewer saw the painting. They  often wanted the viewer to feel an actual physical response, like dizziness or nausea. Can you imagine? Bridget Riley was a famous Op artist as was M.C. Escher, Salvador Dali, Victor Vasarely and many more. These are 2 famous optical art  pieces.
